What We Ate in Palm Springs
I am a “picky” eater but when I love a food, I want to try it in every city! Palm Springs was no exception. The Downtown area of Palm Springs has so many restaurants; it was slightly overwhelming to decide on a place to eat each time we were hungry.
We stayed at The Saguaro so our first meal was poolside. El Jefe is the hotels on-site restaurant. We ordered chips, salsa and carnitas tacos. Everything was delicious!
We stayed in Palm Springs for 2 nights. Our first dinner was at Spaghetteria. We traveled to Italy in May 2015 so we have had authentic Italian food. This place is as authentic as it gets! It is family owned. The family is from Florence, which we visited. I ordered pasta with meat ragu and Andrew got stuffed ravioli. I have no complaints about this place. The service was top notch and the food was hearty. I would eat their pasta every week if I lived closer! Every entree is served with a good side salad.
There are plenty of breakfast and brunch options in Palm Springs. We settled on L’Atelier, which is a French cafe. I have never traveled to France but the owners are from Paris. They opened this cafe to bring a slice of French culture to Downtown Palm Springs. Do not leave without eating two or more croissants. Their homemade jam is amazing, too.
After a long hike through Mount Jacinto State Park, we decided on pizza for our last night in Palm Springs. Yelp led us to Pizzeria Bambinos, which is actually located a short drive away in Cathedral City. The staff was friendly and when our pizza took longer than predicted to make, they offered us free sodas. Unfortunately, the pizza was not good. It lacked any flavor, as did their breadsticks. I would definitely satisfy your pizza craving elsewhere.
Our last meal was breakfast at Rick’s Restaurant and Bakery. It seems like a local favorite! We walked in and we were seated within minutes. The place is large with two separate dining rooms. They were busy but that is to be expected on a Sunday. We couldn’t decide on what to order so we ordered a lot of food. We got homemade biscuits, buttermilk pancakes. blueberry pancakes and a giant cinnamon roll to-go. No regrets! Everything was delicious, especially the pancakes. I don’t know if I am the only one but I love crispy pancakes. These pancakes did not let me down!
